Construction permits now required in areas with approved 1/500 construction plan
Before October 2012, under Decree 12/2009, construction works built in a residential area, an urban area or an industrial zone which has been issued an approved 1/500 construction plan are not required to obtain a construction permit. Under Decree 64/2012, this is no longer the case after 20 October 2012. Before Decree 64/2012, it is usual for a real estate developer to rely on approved 1/500 construction plans to develop its projects. Now such developer would need to obtain new construction permits for the buildings which remain to be built in the approved construction plans.
